Review: Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Genre: NA Romance Fiction
Narration: 1st Person Lake
Time it took to read: About one day
Main Character: Lake and Will
Copy: Kindle ($7.59)
Four Coils out of Five

We meet Layken "Lake", she's fresh from Texas and just moved from her childhood home to Michigan. This is the last place she wants to be. To top it all off, it's her senior year and her father unexpectedly died.

So, a new girl (Lake) moves into town and her neighbor (Will) has automatic hots for her. They go on a date and both feel an instant unexplained connection. Everything is going well, when suddenly, something happens when the two can’t be together yet they are still forced to see each other everyday multiple times a day. They live right across the street from each other and their little brothers are best friends, adding fuel to the fire.

Lake soon finds out why they had to pack up and move right after the father dies and now has to be a strong rock from the family. Will and Lake begin to communicate through a love of poetry. Will helps her get through the rough patch in her life and it is hard for both of them not to continue their romantic relationship.

I was an emotional roller coaster when it came down to this book. It is a quick read. Lots of laughs, good tears, many smiles. While the main characters are easy to love, the secondary characters are a riot in themselves. Even when little brothers Kel and Caulder are sleeping they made me laugh. Lake’s best friend is a confident fire cracker who is witty and has a story of her own. A story for each secondary character can be written and enjoyed as stand alones.
